I didn’t meet Demola waiting to tear my head down but I met Salewa, sitting quietly in my chair and fiddling with her iPad. My eyes caught her as I was rushing into the office and immediately they did, I started retracting my steps. I wanted to go to the bathroom and think of what to do to avoid her but unfortunately, she rotated the chair and her eyes caught me.(more…)
I knew I couldn’t tell Salewa anything that had happened that day because she was going to gloat so much and I wouldn’t have peace in the coming days. At the same time, I knew I couldn’t avoid it. Salewa would know if I was lying about the meeting and if I didn’t tell her what happened, what was I going to say?(more…)
I was going to go to the bathroom, call Bena and tell her what was going on as hot Fola’s behaviour was confusing and how I thought he was just messing with my head. But just before I got to the door, just two inches away from the door, I missed a step, tripped over and fell down.
I forgot the documents for my meeting and with the way that Fola had been targeting me, I knew that if I didn’t have those papers, it would be disastrous, considering how he had reacted during my first presentation. I quickly dashed into the office to get them because me I didn’t want wahala with anybody. Before Demola and Salewa think I am ruining things on purpose.(more…)
Three weeks passed and there was no word from Fola’s end. I was starting to worry because I knew that if we didn’t get that contract, Demola would blame me for it and that would mean trouble.(more…)
“Will you be my girlfriend?” Fowi asked me.
I was shocked. I didn’t think he would ask so quickly. We hadn’t even been talking for up to a month. I guess nobody really takes that long to progress to the next level these days.
Excitement was written all over Sophie’s face but I couldn’t say the same for Demilade. He looked angry but he tried to hide it. It gave me great joy to see him get like that. (more…)
The gates of Fowi’s house flung open almost immediately Lade honked. As Demilade drove in, I unzipper the zipped of my playsuit, enough to display just the right amount of cleavage.
After parking behind the Lexus, we alighted from the car. The gate man greeted us and went back to his duty post as we made our way to the entrance door. Sophie rang the bell and Fowi opened the door almost immediately. (more…)
“This dress, it makes you look like a…” She hesitated.
I looked down at my dress, wondering what the problem could be. I rose my head and looked at her in confusion.
“Like a what?” I looked at the back. “What’s wrong with it?”
“If you don’t know how to keep your mouth shut, then I will shut it for you.” Tola said.
She climbed one step up and looked around to see of anybody was close enough to hear her. I quickly stepped back because I didn’t want her to know I was eavesdropping.More tea
Was I supposed to clear the table, or leave it for the domestic staff?
If I cleared the table, I’m sure Tola would sell the story of me being a local woman below their class, for clearing the table like a house maid. If I didn’t, she’d say I wasn’t brought up properly in my house and I didn’t know how to take care of a home as a woman. (more…)
